The College of Education at Athens State University is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP) 1140 19th Street NW, Suite 400 Washington, DC 20036. This accreditation covers initial teacher preparation programs. CAEP became the sole accrediting body for educator preparation on July 1, 2013. Its mission is to advance equity and excellence in educator preparation through evidence-based accreditation that assures quality and supports continuous improvement to strengthen P-12 student learning. The College of Education hosted a CAEP site visit during the Fall 2021 semester and received CAEP accreditation in May 2022.
